Birmingham City face stiff competition for Celta Vigo winger Daniel De Ridder.

The 23 year-old Dutchman is a target for Brum, but is also being chased by Wigan Athletic and Middlesbrough following Celta's relegation...

Daniel de Ridder staat in de belangstelling van Birmingham City en Beitar Jeruzalem, zo heeft een Israëlische bron aan Sportweek laten weten. De rechtsbuiten, die schitterde in de finale van het EK onder 21 en wiens moeder Israëlische is, zou al met Beitar hebben onderhandeld over een contract. Hij mag transfervrij vertrekken bij het gedegradeerde Celta de Vigo, waar zijn contract na twee jaar afloopt.

Beitar is sinds 2005 in handen van de Russische miljardair Arcadi Gaydamak en heeft grootste plannen voor volgend seizoen. Behalve De Ridder probeert de Israëlische landskampioen momenteel ook de Argentijnse spits Martin Palermo van Boca Juniors en de Servische spits Savo Milosevic van Osasuna naar het Midden-Oosten te lokken.
