I have found your website when viewing one of your many wonderful videos about Hong Kong which is a treasure for anyone with an interest in Hong Kong history.

I am pleasantly surprised to find a website filled with even greater treasures! Thanks you for sharing your wisdom, learnings and experiences.

I have shared this site with those I love and will most certainly share it with my kids when they can read : )

Thanks again.

Hi Michael,

I was fortunate enough to come across your fabulous clips of Hong Kong back in the day. Whilst on my way to work this morning, I found myself staring at the MTR television screens. MTR are currently holding a photographic competition re the history of Hong Kong, and if your videos are anything to go by, I suspect you will have some awesome still shots. Details of the competition are on the MTR website

I think your video clips should be shared with all of Hong Kong. Good luck and I hope to see them soon.

Warmest regards

Julie Barras

I saw your footage of Kuala Lumpur in 1961 and was quite blown away. My grandmother lived there at that time )well most of her life, and I have been researching her life. I got a feel for the place. When she visited us in Montreal in 1967, our city must have seemed a pokey backwater.

I enjoyed your videos of old Port Swettenham, Hong Kong, Bombay, Suez, Japan, etc. I sailed as a junior officer on the SS President Jackson and made three trips around the world in 1967 and 1968. After that, I sailed transpacific and tramped with various US Flag Steamship companies in the Pacific and points beyond. Your videos brought back many memories of those cherished times from my youth. Today I'm a ship's pilot in San Francisco. The changes in the maritime industry have been revolutionary. I recall the "old days" with joy. Thanks very much for sharing your knowledge and videos.

Thanks for your response. Yes, you have been witness to the golden days of sea travel. I was a passenger in 1949, 1953, and 1960 at Dutch freighters (see my clips) An experience I never forgot. Lately I enjoyed cruises to Northern Europe, leaving from Amsterdam.

Dear Sir,
My i introduce , i'm from Indonesia . My late father was a Subud & he opened ( di Buka ) in Wolfsburg , Germany ( because he's studied there ) circa 1961/62 .
My i download / copy your file on your youtube regarding Pak Subuh , for upload at Subud group on facebook ( social network website )
Thank you for your attention.

Best regards,

Nice to hear from you.

I suggest that you copy the object tag onto your face book.
If you go to a video clip, for instance of Bapak in the Hague, you will find a tag like this one:
<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value=""></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
There are five clips of Bapak on YouTube, one of Husein Rofé.

I may have been in Wolfsburg in 1961 but forgot whether I met your father there. He must have known Richard Engels.

Best wishes,
